Hi all!
What are some of your favorite Disney movies? I personally like the ones from back in the late 80s and 90's.
Some of my favorites are Pocahontas, The Lion King, Beauty and the beast, The Little mermaid and brother bear. What about you? :)

Post 2 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 15-Jan-2012 21:04:03

I really enjoyed Prince of Ejypt, Princess and the Frog, The Hunchback , the Aladins. There aren't really too many disney movies (especially in the past fifteen years or so) I haven't enjoyed in one way or another. Not a huge fan of their live action stuff, though some of it is decent.

I like the DCOM movies.

Shrek all the way. And what the heck is DCON?

Post 6 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 19-Jan-2012 20:42:41

Shrek is made by dream works company..lol people get that mixed up all the time. I do it to if it wasn't for my brother constantly reminding me lol!
The Lion King all the way!!! :)

Post 7 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Friday, 20-Jan-2012 2:18:39

Ah well. Then I guess there aren't any Disney movies I really like anymore. I'd say the Chronicles of Narnia but as with the Lord of the Rings (which admittedly I do enjoy), I don't like the eccessive hollywood liberties that were taken with just about every aspect of those movies. I think the BBC versions of those movies, cheesy as they might have been to some, were still much more faithful to the actual stories. I think the Dawn Treader was my least favorite of the new series since in the first two I got the feeling they at least tried to be somewhat faithful to the books. Not in the third one though, what with that dark island being the primary focus of the movie and the White Witch coming back in that scene. So I'm not entirely looking forward to the rest of the series, assuming they do finish it. I heard they're not even doing the Silver Chhair next but te Magician's Nephew instead. I will say in those movies' defense though that Liam Neeson does work for me as the voice of Aslan.

Post 9 by Kathy Fraggle (Zone BBS is my Life) on Friday, 20-Jan-2012 18:14:02

Hmmm, I'll try to put them in a very rough order in an attempt to make it slightly easier for myself.
Bambi

Robin Hood
The Jungle Book
The Fox and the Hound
The Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
the Toy Story movies, (have yet to see the 3rd)
ge Master
The Lion King
all The Lilo & Stitch movies (They may not date back to when I was a kid, but I think they tie with the Jungle Book for my favorite Disney movies of all time!)
The Princess and the Frog, (comes in second)

Post 10 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Monday, 23-Jan-2012 3:11:51

My favorites are definitely the classics. Snow White, Song of the South, and The Rescuers are my top 3 in that category. Then for newer movies, my favorites are The Little Mermaid and The Lion King. Pretty much everything Disney has come up with in the past 10 years or so has been a pile of crap.

Post 11 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Monday, 23-Jan-2012 11:03:10

That's true of movies and TV in general.

Post 12 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Monday, 23-Jan-2012 15:42:19

That's exactly why I find myself watching less and less tv these days. There are a few shows that I'm a fan of but it's very rare that I get into something new.

Post 13 by Kathy Fraggle (Zone BBS is my Life) on Monday, 23-Jan-2012 19:15:39

Ah, of course, I love both Rescuers films, and also both Peter Pans. And I meant the Page Master; either my comp or the site was acting up for some reason.

Post 14 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Tuesday, 24-Jan-2012 0:00:48

Yeah, the second Rescuers movie was good as well, though not as good as the first. The original Alice in Wonderland is great also. As for the new one...don't even ask. It's a completely bastardized version, just like the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Post 15 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Wednesday, 25-Jan-2012 11:57:40

I couldn't agree more. I didn't know Michael Jackson owned Wonka's factory.

Post 16 by little foot (Zone BBS is my Life) on Sunday, 29-Jan-2012 1:35:47

I like the movie buda and the beast

Post 17 by Kathy Fraggle (Zone BBS is my Life) on Sunday, 29-Jan-2012 10:38:42

I don't think the new Alice In Wonderland was supposed to be a remake of the original. Seemed to be a different story, one I don't think was meant for kids at all, and I loved it!

Post 18 by Daenerys Targaryen (Enjoying Life) on Sunday, 29-Jan-2012 10:42:30

I really liked it too.

Post 19 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 04-Feb-2012 21:12:38

I love beauty and the beast as well as the lion king! AWESOME movies!! And yes, I agree with the fact they don't make movies/tv shows the way they used to

Post 20 by The Elemental Dragon (queen of dragons) on Wednesday, 08-Feb-2012 16:33:56

nothing will ever be like it used to.

fave disney movies?
1 lion king
2 lion king 2
3 lilo and stitch

all the rest are like, yeah.

Post 21 by changedheart421 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 09-Feb-2012 21:25:10

bamby and the lion king. liked the little mermaid and beauty and the beast to.

Post 22 by Espking (Zone BBS is my Life) on Tuesday, 14-Feb-2012 17:04:50

my favorite was chicken little. though I do also like aladen, from wich my favorite character is iago (Jafar's parrot).

Post 23 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Wednesday, 15-Feb-2012 0:03:08

Lelo and Stitch was actually one of the better new Disney movies.

Post 24 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Wednesday, 15-Feb-2012 6:46:08

The Lion King was my favorite. Used to watch that one all the time when I was little.

Post 25 by Espking (Zone BBS is my Life) on Wednesday, 15-Feb-2012 7:55:54

lion king's plot was inspired by hamlet. guess disney must have been a crazed shaikspere fan.

Post 26 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Thursday, 16-Feb-2012 2:55:29

What idea is truly original though? Everything is basically a spin off of something or other.

Post 27 by little foot (Zone BBS is my Life) on Thursday, 01-Mar-2012 7:04:45

My favorite movie is budi and the best.
I love that movie like to watch.
I have also watched it described to me with the described vedoes.
i likened it and I would not mind watching it again.

Post 28 by Espking (Zone BBS is my Life) on Sunday, 04-Mar-2012 18:21:00

the origenal thing for lk was the animal part of it. hamlet had humans.

Post 29 by FaithinGod4ever (Zone BBS is my Life) on Monday, 05-Mar-2012 22:39:52

I LOVE The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Mary Poppins, Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, Jungle Book, JB2, Aristocats, Oliver and Company, 101 Dalmatians 1961, Pocahontas, Lady and the Tramp and Lilo and Stitch!

Post 30 by Espking (Zone BBS is my Life) on Wednesday, 07-Mar-2012 9:35:24

what the... the 101 dalmations I watched as a kid in 1998 was a remake? No Kidding!

Post 31 by hi5 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 10-Dec-2012 2:48:36

In no particular order, Cinderella, aristocats, lady and the tramp, junglebook, Pinochio, Adventures of winnie the Pooh, Little murmaid, Aladdin, beauty and the beast, hunchback of notredane, Mulan, Lion King, Princess and the frog, 101 dowmations, and I'm not clear whether the rest are disney, pixar or both, but so far I've loved almost every pixar/disney combination movie I've seen. All three toy stories, both cars, both happy feet, Monsters inc and wallE. Now would somebody please hire me already? Gosh!

Post 32 by Espking (Zone BBS is my Life) on Monday, 10-Dec-2012 12:35:41

my new favorite is the newly released "wreck-it rolf". (I'm not giving the plot, I don't wanna spoil it until it comes out on dvd.)

Post 33 by louisa (move over school!) on Monday, 17-Dec-2012 8:57:47

As for me, I like the little mermaid, and, the land before time. As for the narnia stuff, I quite enjoyed the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe. It has a nice soundtrack

Post 34 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Tuesday, 18-Dec-2012 12:04:36

Oe ting I'll agree the new Narnia movies definitely have going for the is the soundtrack, particularly the "main theme." Bt the BBC versions are what I prefer since they actually follow the novels fairly closely. As for Disney, Aladdin was always my favorite. My favorite character was the Genie. I prefer the Robbin Williams incarnation. I like Dan Castellaneta but it was hard to imagine Homer Simpson as the Genie. LOL. And I liked the older 101 Dalmatians movie, not the '98 remake with Glenn Close.

Post 35 by louisa (move over school!) on Monday, 31-Dec-2012 11:54:21

I've never heard the BBC versions, so I can't comment. Though they should be interesting to hear.

Post 36 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Saturday, 05-Jan-2013 20:21:49

They are. The actingg may seem cheesy and over the top to some but at least they tried. Only problem is those particular adaptations can be quite hhard to find.

Post 37 by emily 25 (Account disabled) on Sunday, 06-Jan-2013 5:53:37

Post 38 by softy5310 (Fuzzy's best angel) on Thursday, 21-Feb-2013 3:32:50

Hi,

I saw this topic and couldn't resist adding my two cents. I like pretty much all Disney movies. My favorites are the Hunchback and Hunchback two. I love lots of the older ones such as the Lion king, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the beast, Aladdin, The Rescuers, Bambi, Cinderella, and the list goes on. i love all the siquals for them, too and own many of them. I love new ones as well, such as Bolt, Tangled, The emporer's New Groove, Kronk's New Groove, The Princess and The Frog, and so on. I can't wait to see the new monsters inc. one that's coming out this summer. i love Pixar movies, too. So basically, i'm a huge Disney/Pixar nut.
Take Care,
dawnielle

The Lion King is one of my favorites. I saw the live stage production with audio description too and it was awesome!
If we can throw Pixar in the mix, Cars 1 was one of my favorite movies. I normally don't enjoy kids' movies much, maybe because I'm a mom so have seen them way too many times, but Cars was awesome! My son was 2 when it came out and after we saw it in the theater, I was ridiculously excited when it came out on DVD.
I don't know why I always forget that Disney did Winnie-the-pooh but he and Tigger are absolutely awesome!

Post 40 by emily 25 (Account disabled) on Thursday, 21-Feb-2013 12:13:02

their was a hunchback too?

oooo i have to see that

Post 41 by mat the musician (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Friday, 08-Mar-2013 18:20:08

I personally am not a fan of most disney films (though I did enjoy the Lion king when I was very young) The others (such as aladin) didn't really strike my fancy due to poor audio description, (things were happening so quickly, that even the describers had a hard time keeping up). I'm not really a fan of their Live action stuff, except for Pirates of the Caribean and only for it's excellent score by Hans Zimmer.

Post 42 by softy5310 (Fuzzy's best angel) on Friday, 15-Mar-2013 3:35:44

Yes, there is a Hunchback 2. It's got all the same characters and the same voices for each, except Lavern has a different voice because the lady who played her in the original, died before the second movie was made. Oh, and Esmeralda and Fobus have a son, named Zephyr. I think it's an awesome movie!!
Take Care,
Dawnielle

Post 43 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 08-Apr-2013 13:48:34

I've only seen parts of Hunchback 2..but not the whole thing yet. nothing like the 1st one that's for sure!

Lets see, aladden the first will always be my favorit, Mulon, however you say that, when the chinese girl takes her dads place in the war the second was alright. Of course Lion king, jungle book haven't seen it in years, snow white, sleeping beauty, beauty and the beast, shark tail, finding nemo, mars meets moms, alice and wonder land, the first one, the one with johnny dept was alright, can't remember the name, but when the rat is a chef, cars was alright, haven't seen the second really, So minny more that can't come to mind right now, but I like alot of disney movies, could care less about the shows now a days.

Hayao Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro is my most favorite animated cartoon ever. It's technically a Disney-rights cartoon so I'm including it here.
